Free Practice for the Duolingo Test

In the Elicited Imitation Item, you have to read aloud a statement that appears on the screen. You will have 20 seconds to record yourself. You will see that there is a “Record Now” button at the bottom of the screen. You will have to click it to start recording and then speak the sentence out loud.

In this question, your speaking and reading skills are assessed. You are also tested in your ability to use intonation and word stress correctly. The main purpose of this task is to evaluate your speech, how clear and intelligible it is, and how fluent you are.

You can record yourself by using a computer microphone and, if you don’t have one, you can use the one that comes with your computer.
